Paper Craft: Chinese New Year DIY Home Deco

Difficulty: Easy
Age: 4 and up (with help from adults as necessary)


Description: 
Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Are you trying to bring up the spirit of the Chinese New Year at home but have no ideas how to do it? Have you thought of repainting the wall of your living hall but do not know how to handle that? 


Worry no more, we have some easy and useful tips to share with you here. You can bring the joy of Chinese New Year into your home with these little tricks in no time.










What you'll need:
1. Any number of Ang Pow packets or red packets (new or recycle)
2. Scissors
3. Double-sided tape or blue tack
4. Marker Pen (optional)
















How to make it: 


1. To create the fan-like flowers, get one Ang Pow packet, fold it up and down in a zig-zag manner as in the below. 






2. Press all creases together and fold the whole Ang Pow into half. Repeat Step 1 and 2 as many times as you wish to create flowers with one, two or three Ang Pow packets. You may do as many as you wish.






3. To create the "福“ deco, just cut it from any Ang Pow packet that has the word printed. Otherwise, you can write the words on any Ang Pow packet and cut it out.






4. To create the butterflies, draw a template of half of the butterfly on the Ang Pow packet, cut along the lines. When you have cut it out, open it and fold the sides of the body of the butterfly. You may draw different shapes of butterflies on different colour of Ang Pow packets. Create as many as you wish.




5. Finally, use the double-sided tape or the blue tack to stick these DIY deco on the wall. You may create as many as you like and arrange in any way you like.
