Paper Craft: Chinese New Year Decor

Difficulty: Easy
Age: 5 and up (with help from adults as necessary)

Description
Chinese New Year is coming!
While shopping for New Year Decoration in the market, let's also reserve some place for self created decor!  Whole family DIY together will sure bring a memorable Chinese New Year to all!

What you'll need:
1. Red color 220gm paper (can buy from Popular or any Stationary Shop)
2. Yellow color 220 gm paper (can buy from Popular or any Stationary Shop)
3. Red / Gold String (long enough to cover the place you want to hang the decor
4. White Glue
5. Scissor


How to make it:
1. Fold the Red color paper into half.  You should get a rectangular shape.
2. Draw the details of half side of a Chinese Lantern on the fold paper.
3. Cut out the Chinese Lantern with the paper still in fold - As shown below.


4. Open the fold paper and yes, you get the whole Chinese Lantern with both side exactly mirror each others.

5. Now, take a smaller size of the Yellow paper and fold it into half too.
6. Draw the details of half side of a Flower or any pattern you like on the fold Yellow paper.
7. Open the fold Yellow paper and you will get a whole Flower with both side mirror each others.
8. Glue the Yellow flower on the Red Chinese Lantern.
9. Continue process # 1 to 8 to create the total number of Chinese Lanterns you want.
10. Cross the Red or Gold string through the top hole of the Chinese Lanterns.
11. Hang them and DONE!!


P.S. You may cut a few long and thin rectangular shape red papers, cross thru the bottom hole of the Chinese Lantern and glue the top section so that their won't drop as extra decoration too!
