Wooden cum Paper Craft: Creative Bookmark


Difficulty: Easy
Age: 4 and up (with help from adults for smaller age kids)

Description: 

You and your kid can make these adorable Wooden Sticks Creative Bookmark that is fun and easy together. These little wooden stick bookmarks can add flavour to spice up your reading experience. These can also be used as motivation to encourage your kids to read and help cultivate the reading habit from young.
 
What you'll need:
1. Wooden Sticks (can buy from any Pharmacy)
2. Colour Paper
3. Artboard/Drawing Paper
4. Double-sided tape
5. Glue 
6. Scissors
7. Colour Pencils

How to make it:
1. Draw a small (2”x2” or smaller) motive or your favourite cartoon character on the drawing paper with pencil.
2. Reinforced the pencil lines with fine marker pen.
3. Colour the motive you drew.
4. Cut out the motive leaving some white gap between the picture and the cutting edge.
5. Use glue to stick the motive on the colour paper.
6. Cut out the motive on the colour paper remember to leave some colour gap between the motive and the cutting edge.
7. Cut a piece of rectangular colour paper of size 0.5”x1.5”.
8. Fold the small rectangular shaped colour paper into half along the longer side.
9. Use glue or double-sided adhesive tape to stick the paper behind the motive.
10. Lastly, stick the other end of the colour paper to the wooden stick.
11. DONE!!!

Tips:
1. To simplified this craft, you may replace Step 1 to 3 with pictures cut out from magazines or print out.
2. Alternatively, you may also try to replace Step 1 to 3 with stickers bought from craft shop or bookstore.
3. To simplified the 2 times cutting into one, you may directly draw on the colour paper instead of the drawing paper;
 however, the motive might not “stand out” and the end result will look “flatter”.
4. You can add some wordings on the wooden stick with permanent marker to enhance the value of the bookmark.
